Updates include enhanced pedestrian navigation, new satellite images and support for integrated compass orientation Zurich, 28 May 2008 "Nokia Maps 2.0", the latest version of Nokia Maps, has now left the beta stage and is available for immediate download. Downloaded over 240,000 times since announced in February, Nokia Maps 2.0 has improved its optional Car Navigation, enhanced its pedestrian navigation, added multimedia city guides, now offers satellite images, and is sporting a redesigned user interface. Nokia's mapping and navigation solutions give people navigation features, local content and world maps directly on their mobile device, in a way that only connected devices can. Content Card: activate additional Nokia Maps functions quickly and easily After installing Nokia Maps on their mobile devices, users can navigate within maps of more than 150 countries, search for specific locations, get free route plans and even display route simulations. If you want to make use of the additional Nokia Maps functions - such as the language version for instance - you can choose from a range of licences obtainable upon payment of a fee. For example, users can choose between different countries, regions or validity periods for the services. The navigation upgrade turns your mobile phone into an effective navigation device that provides clear visual and spoken directions. Customers have a range of options for obtaining the licences. They can be purchased immediately online using a credit card, and are also available in retailers and specialist stores. This is made possible by "Content Cards", which work in a similar way to prepaid phone cards. The customer sends his or her individual Content Card code via SMS, and receives the licence code in reply. This enables the additional functions to be activated as required.
